LESLIE from norwich, United KingdomMmm can not make up my mind on this one Mike ~ perhaps if the clouds had a bit more contrast to them it would help 27 Jan 2010 9:27am AG from London, United KingdomAgree on the shadow but I see so clearly what you were after in this one : ace demo of the 'Rule of Thirds', too ! 27 Jan 2010 10:40am grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomPerhaps a little crisper though the softness and the proportion of the shapes gives it the feel of an abstract by Rothko. Nice 27 Jan 2010 10:57am Michael from Shell Village, United KingdomThanks Leslie, AG and grouser. It's good to hear those constructive comments (I'm glad you agree with me). Ordinarily I would not have posted this image, but it's good to look back at older work to see ones mistakes ;) 27 Jan 2010 11:36am Chris from South Jersey, United StatesI like the thirds a lot, but agree with you on the shadow......I also enjoy looking back on older work and thinking about what I would do differently today..... 27 Jan 2010 12:10pm MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyI like it. I would have even cropped the sky a bit to make all layers same size. 27 Jan 2010 1:34pm Glenn from New Orleans, United StatesCool, interesting concept. The only thing that bothers me (and it's probably the fault of my monitor) is the brightness of the highlights in the clouds. But the progression of the grays from dark to light (or vice versa, depending on whether your glass is half-empty or -full) is classic. 27 Jan 2010 2:21pm don from spokane, United StatesI like this shot with its three shapes which produce a nice abstract if there were no detail. It works as a landscape too. Well done. 27 Jan 2010 3:53pm @don: Do you also see the swell of a rough sea...? Maybe it's my imagination dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Statesvery Rothko...!! sorry for being gone for so long -- not entirely back... not for a few more weeks, but wanted to drop in and say hello!!! hope 2010 is treating you well mate!!! :) 27 Jan 2010 8:09pm @dj.tigersprout: Nice to hear from you dj... ;) thnx Jaycee....... many ,many thanks for all your comments, I'll put your cheque in the post right away :0 Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesI like the three bands or layers. Nice B&W. 28 Jan 2010 12:50am Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesAfter reading the caption I could "see" it.. but till that moment I was puzzled. 28 Jan 2010 1:08pm |
