No DABPosted by Michael Fresh (Chester, United Kingdom) on 21 March 2010 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio. The old Transistor in our kitchen plays merrily every morning, it has no Digital Audio Broadcast, but does have a lovely tone ! My book entitled, Looe in Cornwall a photographic tour, is on sale now.

grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomA classic Bush Radio if I'm not mistaken. Brings back my youth...sigh. Nice detail shot 21 Mar 2010 9:34am @grouser: It's the big Bush dial ;) Marie-Jezaria from Paris, FranceGreat details and a W&B really well processed ! Love the angle and the lightning ! 21 Mar 2010 10:54am MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyA beautiful shot of this well-kept nice old radio (an original from the 1960s?) 21 Mar 2010 12:47pm @MadScientist: Of course :0 Don from spokane, United StatesA fine close up of this classy looking radio. Nice angle and processing to come up with a fine shot like this. 21 Mar 2010 2:12pm Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesYeah, I remember when the quality of the radio was in the number of transistors it contained... great shot. 21 Mar 2010 3:22pm @Earnest: That's true Earnest, 10 transistors, 30 transistors or more. Then we had, ALL TRANSISTOR and Solid State. We've come a long way. marc battault from clermont ferrand, Francea nice frame on retro old posts! 21 Mar 2010 3:56pm @Florence: Rock & Roll... let's go for a drive :D SOUL AFLAME from The bosom of Mother Nature, United KingdomThere's a lot to be said for the classic designs of a past era. I'm up there with the latest digital technology on so many levels, not least my stereo which has six speakers, gold plated banana plugs, double wired high power leads and a host of gizmos that spellbind everyone who comes to my house and hears thier favourite track at studio quality..... and yet, when I'm washing my car, it's an old transistor radio that pleases my ears. Great shot, Michael. Quality in those mono pixels and happy memories. 21 Mar 2010 6:24pm @SOUL AFLAME: I'm up there with you Paul, having myself also the gold banana plugs, and binding posts on my Tannoy floor standing speakers with Van den Hul shielded cables and a system that plays my classical discs with the purest hifi quality. I once had a Tandberg system made in real wood, with a beautiful Blue illuminated frequency scale and polished steel switches...... how times change. Thea from Leeuwarden, NetherlandsOldie's but goldie's :) 21 Mar 2010 7:50pm Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United KingdomLove old kit like that . . needs a Ford Consul on the drive for the start of a perfect day ! 21 Mar 2010 8:09pm @Ronnie 2¢: Yeah, or a Vauxhall Cresta :) Self-Indulgence from Chicagoland, United StatesExcellent retro shot! I can hear the old tunes coming from it! 22 Mar 2010 12:08am Zorilla from H, T & E, United KingdomThis is the BBC Home Service - and now we go over to radio's favorite ventriloquist act, Peter Brough & Archie Andrews... "Go on, put the knife, put the knife in, I won't tell." What you describe is a mish mash of the 2 plots from Dead Of Night & Magic. In the former the vent is Michael Redgrave, in the latter, Anthony Hopkins. 22 Mar 2010 1:21am @Zorilla: Ah, the Home service, Light, and Third, soft mellow tones that a nation depended on. Regarding the ventriloquist... I have never seen either of those films, 'put the knife in I won't tell' just came into my head. Call me paranoid, but maybe that dummy is controlling me :0 Richard Standley from Carquefou, FranceA lovely design. Very nicely captured Mike. 22 Mar 2010 7:58am Benoit Darrieux from Tripoli, LebanonA beautiful image again, we have a very nice atmosphere here. 22 Mar 2010 8:34pm steve-stefedesign from Liverpool, United KingdomAn iconic make Pye? Where have all those radio station names gone on the old medium wave (and long and short) 23 Mar 2010 1:57pm @steve-stefedesign: Bush Craig@Random Ramblings from Herts, United KingdomOh I listened to a row brewing on Radio 2 just yesterday about the switch over to DAB, the nation is divided! My love of technology is at odd with my love of old stuff, I digress, it a lovely frame and makes me want to tune in to Lazer 558 :) 23 Mar 2010 8:18pm @Craig@Random Ramblings: I wonder why they are divided, good quality FM is superior to DAB. Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesWhat a beautiful old classic. It even has "fresh" on the dial it seems. That must be a good station. 24 Mar 2010 4:21pm @Steve Rice: Don't listen too long to Fresh, it's been known to send folks crazy :0 |
