Of course the planners never intended them to look nice, their sole purpose being to provide cheap accommodation for hundreds of people.
My book entitled, Looe in Cornwall a photographic tour, is on sale now.
Ah. Love that. Nothing like a pattern to cleanse the palate. A nightmarish vision of stacking humans into an Orwellian future.

I think they have a certain minimalist simplicity that is not visually displeasing and you have captured it well. However the way communities were destroyed and the social isolation created by this type of environment is to be deplored. The architects should have been compelled to live in them:)

@grouser: I can agree with that !
Very good composition and b/w. A splendid document.

The dark nature of the apartment buildings makes them a fine subject for your excellent black and white. The windows create a fine pattern.

Like prison blocks they stand, like dominoes they should fall. Lovely symmetry here, Michael in a keenly observed shot that brings home the horror of living in such a place. Peter Gabriel's track 'HOME SWEET HOME' comes to mind as I view this.
"Eleven floors up in a towerblock, happy just to have a home, I couldn't change the lock.
When I came home from work that night, she'd jumped out the window with our child, in our Home sweet home "

Looked through your portfolio, excellent work, there is a certain restraint in your work that is very appealing.
